Momentum engages children in dance, music, and performance to develop lifelong habits of self-discipline, teamwork, and excellence to place them on a path to success.
Professional teaching artists and musicians work weekly with more than 1,000 students in Columbus and Hilliard City Schools.
Founded in 2003, Momentum is a nonprofit organization located in Columbus, Ohio. Momentum has reached over 7,000 central Ohio boys and girls and hundreds of educators in dozens of schools using National Dance Institute’s unique methodology of teaching dance.
Momentum was founded
by Monica Kridler who formed a partnership with BalletMet. The program began with a month-long residency for 50 children at one school, and grew to 150 children at three schools by the end of the season.
Growth in central Ohio
Momentum served 400 children in seven schools, including its first in the Hilliard City School District.
Momentum University and Team XO
were created, offering out-of-school opportunities for students seeking to deepen their Momentum experience.
501c3 Nonprofit Status
was granted to Momentum independent of BalletMet. Momentum moved into Print Syndicate’s downtown offices thanks to an in-kind donation.
